Meet the Board

Kymbria Young


Kymbria Young earned a B.A. in English from Spelman College in 2014 and an M.S. in Integrated Marketing Communications from Roosevelt University in 2016. Her professional experience includes corporate positions at numerous Fortune 500 companies including JPMorgan Chase and PepsiCo. Additionally, she has international work experience in Accra, Ghana. Though Kymbria’s corporate experience was critical to her professional development, in 2016 she decided to leave corporate America and pursue her true passion for community development and social activism. With this choice, she launched Season to Soar nonprofit organization. In addition to serving as Founder of Season to Soar, Kymbria is a professional fundraiser for Governors State University.

Her key skills include aligning donors with opportunities to give based on their interests and passion, developing strategic partnerships and cultivating relationships with stakeholders.

Traveling is one of Kymbria’s favorite activities. She has visited three different continents so far and has a personal goal to visit the remaining continents before she turns 30. Most of all, Kymbria enjoys spending quality time with her son, Alexander.

Chris Whyde


Since July 2018, Chris has been a member of the advisory board leadership team for Season to Soar. Chris joined Season to Soar bringing with him 17 years of experience in public service and corporate leadership. Chris has held various leadership positions throughout his career in technology and operations. Chris is a graduate of DePaul University in Chicago and has lived in the city since 2003. Chris’s leadership has contributed to the organization in many ways including updating our digital presence and establishing key strategic partnerships with universities and businesses in Chicago.

Jessica Vogel


Jessica is an experienced marketing leader with almost 20 years of experience driving strategy and evolving numerous Fortune 500 companies. Her most extensive expertise is across digital and life cycle marketing, but spans all facets of marketing. In addition to her thriving marketing career, Jessica prioritizes community involvement and has volunteered with a number of organizations supporting those in need, including the homeless, children’s shelters, the elderly, and animals both in Austin, where she lived for the past 18 years, and now in Chicago where she lives. Her deepest non-profit expertise is with the Texas Advocacy Project where Jess is serving her 6th year on the board of directors, remote from Chicago. Jessica is a Texas native with degrees in Corporate Communications and Spanish from the University of Texas. When she is not working or volunteering, she spends her time with her nieces and nephews and traveling, most recently visiting Cuba this past December.

Heather Hurley

Marketing Committee Chair

Heather Hurley is the Executive Director of Laboratory Accreditation and Health Systems Strategic Accounts at The Joint Commission. In this leadership role, Heather is responsible for 

leading business strategies and activities, including the development and implementation of products and services, for The Joint Commission’s Laboratory Accreditation Program, Patient Blood Management Certification and Integrated Care Certification.  

Heather also leads The Joint Commission’s Laboratory Professional Advisory Council and serves as liaison to associations, collaborative partners, and accrediting and regulatory bodies in the laboratory field. In addition, she provides technical oversight and assistance in support of the development of laboratory accreditation manuals, standards, education programs and other accreditation-related materials. 

Before joining The Joint Commission in 2017, Heather has more than 13 years of commercial experience in the life sciences market. Most recently, she was the director of sales for the Life Science Reagent Business Unit at Affymetrix, Inc., Santa Clara, California where she was responsible for markets in North America, Europe, Middle East, and Africa. Prior to that, Heather worked in the Dept of Molecular Genetics at The Cleveland Clinic as a research technologist.


Ashley Lewis


Professionally, Ashley has worked in healthcare for 8 years. In her current position as a Perioperative care technician in the Interventional Lab, she prepares patients for invasive procedures ranging from major procedures like Transcatheter aortic valve replacements to minor procedures like biopsies.

Ashley is a graduate of University of Illinois at Chicago earning a Bachelor of Science in biological sciences and a Bachelor of Arts in criminology, law, and justice. During her time at UIC she was a volunteer chemistry tutor. Ashley also spent most of her life volunteering in many capacities with her church located on the west side of Chicago. She plans to continue her studies to receive a Master’s degree in Physician Assistant studies.

Zachary Henderson

Outreach and External Affairs Committee Chair

Zachary currently works for the Federal Judiciary as an attorney, and also teaches classes on logical reasoning and analysis for aspiring attorneys. He previously served on the board of Men4Choice and has volunteered with Head Start as well as several Arkansas-based organizations. Before law school, he spent years working in management, did professional slam poetry and improvisational theater, and taught English, Poetry, and Ethics in schools in Arkansas and Puebla, Mexico. He studied English and Gender Studies at the University of Arkansas and Law at The University of Chicago Law School.


Alisa Hansen

Budget & Fundraising Committee Chair

Alisa grew up in California and fell in love with nature through her yearly visits to Yosemite National Park. She received her BS in environmental science from DePaul University and an MS in sustainable resource management from Vrije University of Amsterdam, Netherlands. Besides the Netherlands, Alisa has lived in France and Germany. In France, she was working in the field of criminal intelligence, combating global timber and wildlife trafficking. In Germany, she was a preschool teacher at an international school. Alisa became interested in developing strategies for a transition to a more sustainable society through her passion of working with children. She believes strongly in protecting the environment to sustain life for generations to come. Currently, she works at a startup called Verde Energy Efficiency Experts, which is an L3C focused on making measurable reductions in energy usage in the Chicagoland area. In her spare time, Alisa spends time with her family and her dog, Zeus. She aspires to embody resiliency, confidence, and professionalism in her daily life.

Dinah Fabela

Board Member

Dinah is an experienced Corporate Marketing Communications Manager with a demonstrated history of working in the electrical and electronic manufacturing industry. Skilled in marketing, art direction, and web design. Strong media and communications professional with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) focused in Graphic Design with minor in Marketing from Upper Iowa University. Dinah is currently working towards a Master’s degree in Instructional Design and Technology at Concordia University. Dinah has volunteered for several organizations in the past including, Rebuilding Together, Hurricane Katrina Food Drive, Feed My Starving Children and a few community enhancement projects in the Austin neighborhood to revitalize abandoned lots into community gardens.


Abhi Hansoti

Board Member

Abhi has deep experience in senior advisory and interim roles with Fortune 500 companies driving cost savings and revenue growth through the use of analytics, process improvement, and change management. Providing insightful and trusted counsel to Executives, Boards, and Private Equity firms on both broad-based corporate strategy and operational issues and assisting clients improve financial performance and turnaround business with hands-on implementation support and partnership.  

Abhi has been involved in the community and volunteering through various events, organizations, and mentorship activities.  Abhi recently joined the Council of International Programs Chicago (CIP) which is a non-profit international educational exchange program, committed to promoting international understanding through professional development and cross-cultural exchange.  He has also been involved with Kellogg Cares (Kellogg School of Management) events (e.g. Food service at shelters).  

Abhi holds a Computer Engineering (Bachelor of Applied Science) degree from the University of Toronto (Toronto, Canada) and an MBA from the University of Western Ontario (London, Canada).


John Wardisiani

Board Member

My name is John Wardisiani. 2020 marks my 20th in education and my 6th year in teaching in higher education. My personal and professional work includes curriculum and instruction, change leadership, mentoring, professional development, community outreach, grant writing and educational research to name a few. In regards to training, I hold terminal degrees in Educational and Organizational Leadership. Outside of school(s), I continue to train for the Chicago Marathon if and when it returns. I am also a 3rd Degree Black Belt and Instructor in Taekwondo. I am so excited to be working with the amazing people connected to Season to Soar.

Keagan Delfosse

Board Member

Keagan joined Season to Soar in 2019 and is a part of the budget and fundraising committee. In the past, he has served on the auxiliary board for Big Shoulders Fund. Keagan currently works for US Bank in the Global Structed Finance Group as an Assistant Vice President. Keagan graduated from Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia with a degree in economics.
